The fact that the W210 chassis has enjoyed tremendous value attention by way of the skyrocketing E55 is news to no one in the collector MB universe. What is interesting, however, is how values on the remaining models of the W210 lineup have remained stagnant despite similar driving feel and, in the case of today's example, somewhat similar powerplants.

Today's example is offered for sale on craigslist out of Bend, OR and appears extremely presentable for its age and mileage. Finished in Bordeaux Metallic (567) paint over Mushroom/Pebble (205) leather interior, this E430 sports the elegance package and cuts a very nice curbside image for any fan of the W210 chassis.

The 4.3L V8 was good for approximately 275bhp when new and, while lacking the power of its bigger brother the E55, the E430 still offers the same smooth power application of the venerable Mercedes V8 in the mid-size sedan format. Moreover, as this is the RWD (non 4Matic) variant, the driving experience is sure to be more like the E55 when the nearly 300 ft-lbs of torque are delivered to the rear wheels under spirited driving.

While this 1999 example lacks some of the more desirable options such as the sport package, Xenon headlights and early COMAND unit, the engine/drivetrain combination along with its low-mileage and fantastic condition make this example worthy of note for anyone in the W210 market.

Today's example appears immaculate in the photos both inside and out. No word from the selling dealer as to the Carfax history, paint originality, or presence of records, but we're willing to bet there's a good chance this is a 1-2 owner local Northwest car with some discernible history of service. If so, that would make this a really spectacular buy at $5,400 for anyone looking to get into a W210 V8 while prices are still rock bottom.
