A Nod to Modern Heritage: 2010 ML63 AMG 10th Anniversary

If limited editions, rare color combinations, and a 500 horsepower SUV are what turns your crank, we suggest you take a moment to examine a 2010 ML63 AMG recently listed for sale in Chicago, Illinois. Take a close look and you’ll notice this specific ML63 stands out from the rest of the pack as a 10th Anniversary Edition. Asking price is $24,900 with 74k miles on the odometer and a reportedly clean history. The full listing can be found here with iCars of Chicago via their dealer website.

The 10th Anniversary ML63 was launched to commemorate 10 years of the AMG-powered SUV- a new performance vehicle for a new era that seemed to give the market exactly what it wanted out of a modern 4x4. By the time the W164 ML63 came around there were dozens of color combinations and enough options to make an S Class owner think twice. That being said, the AMG Performance Studio went the extra mile to ensure two things about the 10th Anniversary Edition. Primarily, it was going to stand out from any other ML63 on the road but it was also intended to reference the ML55 AMG with several nods to it’s young but prominent heritage.

At an initial cost of $5,950, the 10th Anniversary Package (P38) offered some unique upgrades, perhaps the most notable is the Exclusive Brown (554) Leather trimming the cabin across the seats, steering wheel, and door cards. In addition to the leather, the cabin saw an upgrade from the usual Walnut or Sport trim to a dark Charcoal Poplar that really stands out against the Brown Leather. Other upgrades on this edition include various exterior trim pieces painted in Himalaya Grey including skid plates, grilles, and fog light surrounds. Our favorite feature is the edition-specific hood with the familiar “AMG Power Domes” vertically set.

The Black (040) exterior, while more subtle than the cabin, still lets onlookers know this isn’t your run-of-the-mill W164. In addition to the features lended through the special edition, this ML63 sits on 21” AMG wheels with centers painted Himalaya Grey to match the rest of the exterior add-ons. Some great options are present on this model including Parktronic, Bi-Xenon Headlamps, along with all the usual options seen on the interior.

Although W164 ML63’s can certainly be had for less money these days, none quite so unique are readily available. While the Carfax is noted to be clean, we’d want to ask the dealer about maintenance records and just how thoroughly this ML has been kept by the previous owner. If records and preventative maintenance are up to snuff, this rare ML63 could certainly be worth the asking price. Conversely, if certain items haven’t been addressed, buyers should expect to pay a hefty sum to ensure this ML63 drives as phenomenally as it looks.
