One of these days we’ll stop stumbling across low mileage W140’s but that won’t be today. Listed with a small dealer out of Chicago, this 1996 S320 offers excellent value from both the drivers and collectors perspectives. It can be found listed here on Facebook Marketplace for $9,995 and shows a young 46k on the clock. Although no interior photos are provided via the listing or dealers website, this car seems to be in nice shape and is priced accordingly.
Finished in Smoke Silver Metallic (702) over Beige Leather this S320 is straight out of the 90’s with an abundance of warm tones surrounding acres of burred Walnut and leather. This S320 delivers everything you want from a 90’s Mercedes without any extra frills (Keep in mind this is still an S Class). Optioned as a short wheelbase with the more “economical” M104 under the hood, this S320 doesn’t have heated seats, a rear sunshade, or navigation. What it does have is double-paned glass, soft close doors, and some of the most comfortable seats ever to be fitted to any vehicle. Even the factory stereo will completely immerse the driver in top notch sound.
Given the lack of detailed photos we have to assume the interior is about as nice as the body and paint work. The only imperfection we can spot is that the wheels are in dire need of a refinish but otherwise this S320 appears as though the 46k on the clock have been quite easy. From the few shots that allow a peek at any trim, dash, or door cards, we feel safe in saying the wood isn’t terribly faded nor is the upper leather on the doors or dashboard. Ultimately we advise shoppers to ask for as many photos as the dealer will send and if possible, try to see the car in person. This S320 has a lot of potential for the right buyer and it’s bound to retain value even in daily use.
