DTM Dream: 1990 190E 2.5-16v Evolution II

The owner of this spectacular 1990 190E 2.5-16v Evo II reached out to us to let us know his car was currently being auctioned on Bring A Trailer. With only 502 examples produced worldwide, the Evo II is in some very rare air and opportunities to purchase one are few and far between. The car is currently located in the Netherlands with shipping available to other countries as needed. A total of 502 were produced to satisfy Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM Racing) homologation requirements and all but the final two are finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199) as seen here.

This Evo II has covered 131k kilometers (~81k miles) which some may consider higher than normal, however, we love seeing one of these machines that has been enjoyed. In addition, the pictures provide plenty of details to put any doubt to rest that this car has been very well cared for. The paint is excellent all around with no blemishes noted. The interior is equally as fit with only very minor wear seen on the driver seat back bolster.

Recaro seats come in both the front and rear to keep all passengers firmly planted while soaring through the power band on twisty backroads. The 5-speed dogleg transmission is mated to the Evo II's 2.5L-16v Cosworth engine which boasts 232 horsepower with the additional AMG PowerPack equipment which includes revised camshafts, a larger throttle body, and ignition and fuel system upgrades. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the fuel injectors, fuel filters, and valve cover gasket, along with an A/C recharge. The car is also equipped with LSD in which recent service includes replacement fluid for the transmission and differential, replacement clutch cylinders, and a replacement differential seal.

The Evo II comes with a more aggressive bodykit over it's Evo I predecessor including elongated flared fenders, sculpted front and rear bumpers, and a larger spoiler. The original 17" six-spoke wheels appear to be in excellent condition and are wrapped with brand new tires. Additional service includes replacement of the brake rotors and pads in preparation for the sale.

The 190E Evo II will forever be revered as one of the greatest machines to ever come from Mercedes. Spend a few minutes watching old footage of these DTM cars tearing up tracks in the 90's and you'll find yourself opening up your checkbook very quickly. But be prepared for a hefty number as you're not the only one lusting to have this work of art sitting in your garage. Bidding is set to end on Thursday, December 31st at 2pm, good luck!
