Emerald in the Rough: 60k-mile 1995 E320 Cabriolet

Offered for sale on Craigslist out of Walnut Creek, CA is this "one-owner", 60k-mile 1995 E320 Cabriolet in Tourmaline Green Metallic (269) over Beige (265) leather interior.

This example checks a lot of boxes: One-owner (or one-family), low-miles, low-production numbers for these cabriolets and an excellent period color-combo. An example with these attributes would normally retail at more than double the present seller's $8,850 asking price...so what's the catch?

Well, in addition to the normal issues for these W124 cabriolets (leaky top hydraulics, biodegradable wiring harness) this car has some cosmetic woes despite claims that it was garaged all its life. Primary among these are the worn driver's seat bolster, the inoperable ragtop, front and rear bumpers that need respray (and crack repair in the front), as well as what is surely a lingering list of deferred maintenance items.

While the above items may easily total a few thousand dollars for the next owner to complete, that still leaves a tremendous amount of meat on the bone for anyone interested in saving this future classic.

For those of you on the west coast, this car is certainly worth a second look. Let us know if you pick it up and intend to bring it back to life!
