Icon Gold Coupe: 1979 450SLC 5.0

As we build out our preferred search parameters for each week and month there are certain dealers that consistently stand out with rare and intriguing cars. Today, we turn our attention back to RMC Miami for a homologated 70’s classic. This 1979 450SLC 5.0 recently turned up on their social media and is worth a closer look.

Finished in a beautiful Icon Gold, this SLC looks to be in fantastic condition. The lower cladding has been painted in a complimentary medium grey and accented with paint-matched BBS Mahle wheels. The body appears to be in great shape and doesn’t seem to suffer from any major defects but moreover the paint still retains a fantastic finish along with the chrome trim and bumpers.

The interior, finished in Black Leather, shows nicely with little wear indicated beyond normal use. The dash appears to be free from cracks and has potentially been replaced. The wood appears to be in above-average shape as well and pairs nicely with the dash color, although we're not convinced the factory dash color wasn't black. A classic JVC head unit adornes the center console for an early 90’s modified look along with the thicker steering wheel with added Mercedes horn button.

This SLC was imported and federalized in 1984 and comes with all subsequent paperwork and records since the federalization. These 5.0 SLC’s were produced in low numbers (just over 1400 total existed) and although the NA-spec cars were slightly rarer, all variants of these 5.0 coupes remain highly desirable. Any interested parties should contact RMC Miami for more details, we’re positive this will make a great addition to any collection.
