The w202 AMG's, much like the w210's, have consistently been seeing a steady increase in value over recent years. We only see the trend continuing as low mileage examples are becoming more difficult to find. Occasionally, examples like this 1998 C43 AMG become available and we can't help but stop and stare. Finished in Obsidian Black (197) over Anthracite Leather, this C43 has an impressively low 20k miles and appears to be in pristine condition. A paint correction would go a long way to help clean up the swirls seen in the direct sunlight but aside from that, we can't find any issues to address.
The car comes with a clean Carfax, window sticker, and the original manual which is accompanied by two OEM keys. The car is powered by a 4.3L V8, M113, engine which produces 306 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque from the factory. The AMG versions came with specific bumpers, side skits, and wheels. Fun fact, only the AMG w202s had the lower fog lights in the bumpers. All body panels appear to be straight with no damage at all. The wheels appear to be original as well with only the slightest bit of rash visible for about an inch on the rear passenger side wheel.
The leather appears to be in excellent condition as well as the wood grain which is on par with a 20k-mile example. No pictures of the headliner in the rear are provided but it's worth noting that sagging in the rear corners is a very common issue. We actually prefer the Anthracite interior as opposed to the lighter gray color commonly found on the C43s which tends to wear much quicker. It's worth noting the original floor mats have been retained as many get lost over time. The spare tire and tool kit have never been used and appears tidy from all angles. The engine bay, as expected, looks remarkably clean, matching the corrosion free underbody.
This action is currently live with Bring A Trailer and is scheduled to end on Wednesday, October 7th at 3:30pm. We're very curious to see where this one lands and expect strong numbers from such a low mileage, black on black, C43 AMG.
