Light Ivory over Palomino: 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.6

A few weeks ago we posted a beautiful 1989 Mercedes 190E 2.6 finished in two-tone Light Ivory with brown cladding over a Brazil Leather interior (Link). Today's feature is of a similar W201 finished in single colored Light Ivory (623) over an always desirable Palomino MB-Tex interior.

Listed on Craigslist in Berkeley, California, this 1992 Mercedes 190E 2.6 claims just 59,000 reported miles and an asking price of $7,800. There is plenty of good insight from the seller on this one, who states that the car is cosmetically in excellent shape, with just a few minor mechanical needs. Some hairline cracks can be seen in the wood around the shifter bezel which is common for Benzes from this era. Fortunately, no sun damage or fading is present and the dash is free from cracks.

"-Straight body and clean Palomino color interior with no rips, tears or fading, some shrinking of the vinyl only on the front passenger door.

-Everything works! Including the sunroof and A/C which needs a recharge

-Rotors, pads and tires are in great condition

-Belt tensioner and tensioner shock replaced in 2019 by York's Motorwerke in Walnut Creek

-Rear struts and shocks replaced in 2017

-Front flex disc replaced in 2017

-The odometer reads 41,912 but the true mileage is closer to 59,000, prior owner had the miles rolled back while in Missouri/Kansas in 2013 before it found a new home in California

-Right rear passenger window switch on center console works in reverse because the switch was replaced using a unit from a 190e with a 2.3L

-Radio works and power antenna functions properly but only two front speakers are operating

-The paint has a couple blemishes on the fenders and front lower bumper.

We're curious as to the odometer issue stating the miles were rolled back. Potentially, the odometer could've remained inoperable for some time instead? Either way, that's certainly a major issue that needs to be further explained but we have to admit, the car does appear to reflect such low mileage from it's condition.

The Light Ivory gives the car a look of being almost porcelain in nature, however these 190E's are anything but delicate. With minimal maintenance these cars are known to last through generations of ownership. So whether you are looking for a fun classic to drive on the weekends, or a family hauler that you'd like to some day pass down to your grandkids, this is certainly a candidate for any occasion. Offered with a clean California title and a recent Smog check, this 190 is ready for a new home.
