Long-Term Ownership Matters: 2006 E55 AMG

Long-term ownership is becoming an increasingly rare concept with specialty and collector cars these days. It seems the more disposable we build cars, the more consumerist the general population becomes. Even though the car of focus today is a 2005 model, it’s been owned by the seller since 2006 and all records have been kept. Better yet, it’s been well driven, well maintained, and very well optioned. This 2005 E55 AMG was listed here on Craigslist yesterday out of Tacoma, Washington. The odometer displays a healthy 135k but we’re willing to bet this is one of the nicer E55’s on the market, high mileage or not.

Finished in a pleasantly rare Platinum Blue Metallic (353) over an Anthracite interior, this W211 immediately stands out from the Brilliant Silvers and Blacks typically seen on this era AMG. The paint looks to be very nicely kept along with the wheels in decent shape. Overall the car appears to be largely stock, save for a hood ornament delete and it really does appear to be as clean as we’d hope. The photos show it parked in what appears to be a secondary garage or “toy box” parked between a 991 Targa and a Ski Nautique wake boat. So far this is the long-term owner we’d want to buy from.

The interior presents just as nicely and even though more photos would help, the shots provided help break down this data card without having the VIN. Options present are multi-contour front seats, P2 package with keyless entry/start, Parktronic, and a Panoramic roof. The Ash trim certainly steps this car up aesthetically and of course, we love seeing the OEM floor mats present and in good shape.

At an asking price of $15,900, this is priced slightly higher than some other comparable (on paper) examples but a VMI-check should prove this to be a much better up-front investment considering this owner has likely kept up with all maintenance, hopefully a good bit being preventative. If the history and VMI checks out, this should be a great daily for someone looking to set themselves apart from the average W211 E55 crowds and hopefully the seller is mildly negotiable. From our experience this example shows just as nicely as many E55's with half the miles.
