While the vast majority of vehicles featured here on The MB Market are submissions from our subscribers or hidden gems we've found on the internet, today we're featuring a vehicle from our own stable. Co-founder, Blakley Leonard, has curated a collection of Mercedes-Benz vehicles that includes something fun for all tastes and preferences. To name a few of our favorites there's a 1990 500SL 6.0L AMG, 1988 190E 2.3-16v Cosworth, 2000 E60 RS RENNtech wagon, and a 1990 560SEC 5.6 AMG Widebody. Among others in the collection, Blakley has decided to sell his 1993 300GE 3.6L Brabus (G36) and you likely won't be seeing another G Wagon quite like this one anytime soon. Shown currently with 89k kms, this W463 has been upgraded by Brabus with the 3.6L engine conversion, front bumper (stamped) along with side and rear steps, two-piece wheels, exhaust, and steering wheel.
This 300GE 3.6 is uniquely painted in Amethyst Blue Metallic (5338) which appears more purple in hue to the eye. The paint remains glossy and bright with no clear coat issues to be found. The front brush guard retains the original chrome surround while the inserts are paint matched along with the windshield wipers. Chrome brush guards are also fitted to the front turn signals and rear tail lights.
The interior is trimmed in Anthracite Leather which remains factory with the exception of a Brabus steering wheel and gauge cluster. All leather is well-conditioned and free from any tears showing very minimal wear. Custom floor mats trimmed in leather are installed in the front and rear proudly wearing the Brabus logo. The head unit has been upgraded to a Continental with Bluetooth but still retains a period correct appearance and backlighting. Many Mercedes from this era suffer from sagging headliners but fortunately, this headliner is fully intact with no sagging or wear. Rarely optioned rear jump seats can be found in the rear cargo compartment along with an OEM all-weather mat and an original dog guard. The woodgrain remains rich in color but does suffer from some hairline cracks in the clear but altogether presents nicely.
The AC and heat work as they should along with the blower motor performing perfectly as well. All windows are fully operational and both keys to the spare tire cover lock are included in the sale. All doors and handles function properly with that unmistakable thunk of a G Wagon door closing.
The wheels are authentic two-piece Brabus Monoblock IV wheels measuring 18x9.5 all around. The tires are Yokohama Geolandar A-T/S with 85% tread remaining. The front passenger side wheel is beginning to show clear coat failure along the polished lip which could be refinished by any experienced professional. All other wheels are in excellent condition.
This Brabus has lived the majority of its life in Florida where it was with it's previous owner for over 20 years stateside. Originally, the vehicle was imported from Germany. No rust is found anywhere on the body including the bottoms of all four doors, around windows, and along the roofline. All W463s are susceptible to rust in these locations but given none is present on this Brabus, it's clear this G-Class has been well kept and cared for. Underbody photos are provided in the gallery below showing the frame and other components to also be in great condition and free from corrosion as well. Brabus specific plates and badging are found on the windshield, under the hood along the side of the engine bay, and on the firewall which further indicates how attentive the company was to custom builds on any platform.
The seller has had a new steering stabilizer bar installed and upgraded to that of the G55 AMG. All fluids have been flushed and an oil and filter change was performed within the last 5 months. While the vehicle has always had window tint installed, the seller recently had all new tint reapplied and upgraded to ceramic all around. Included in the sale is an OEM sunshade specific to the W463 and an authentic Brabus keychain, pictured in the gallery below.
The W463 is known as a fully capable off-road vehicle but by the time Brabus got a hold of this one, it should be praised for its on-road prowess as well. The G-Class was originally developed as a military military vehicle and was first offered to the public in 1979 as the Mercedes-Benz Galendawagen (German for cross-country vehicle). The North American markets were not offered the G-Class until 2002 so any earlier models seen stateside are federalized imports. These W463s are one of the most recognizable vehicles on the road and have reliably proven to withstand the test of time. G Wagons seem to only become more popular and even a base model full of rust will run you near $20k today. Rare specs such as this are certainly in rare air and the opportunity to add one to your collection is few and far between at best.
