The SLK32 seems to occupy a sweet spot in the market right now with a healthy inventory of well-kept, low-mile examples available from coast to coast. Pricing, therefore, is reasonable for a fun, hardtop convertible roadster with plenty of power and timeless AMG styling. This car can be found listed here on Craigslist for $13,900.
Motivating the SLK32 AMG is a 3.2-liter supercharged, intercooled V6 makin 349 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. Based on the standard SLK320's normally-aspirated V6, the AMG version adds - in addition to the supercharger - new throttle body, cams, valves and valve springs. The roadster pumps its power to the rear wheels through a typically AMG-sharp 5-speed automatic transmission, with Speedshift manual mode.
This particular example claims to be a one-owner example with only 42,000 miles on the clock. It shows well in the photos with no immediately visible flaws. A closer look at the front valance is warranted as there appears to be evidence of a hasty crack repair on the driver's side.
The anthracite nappa interior with Magma red leather inserts on the door panels and seats blends well with the popular Brilliant Silver Metallic paintwork; a handsome and appealing overall combination. The car appears to retain its original floormats - with Magma red piping - a hard set to replace with originals for sure.
One question remains, however, as thiss example wears a dealer decal on the rear decklid from "Mark Bass Nissan Subaru" in Joliet Illinois; the kind of decal typically applied at used car dealers. As Mark Bass is not a Mercedes retailer (and certainly wasn't in 2002) the "one-owner" theory becomes cloudy as the car - especially as an AMG variant - would never have been sold new at a Nissan/Subaru dealer. Couple this with the presence of temporary tags on the back and this appears to be a "flip" purchased at the Nissan/Subaru dealer with only one owner prior to the current owner's acquisition. Thus, any buyers should look closely at the carfax to determine the car's history.
