The word gets tossed around a fair bit on our write ups and finds. Sometimes we decide to call something rare and other times the seller makes that call. This is a time when we agree with the seller...this color combination is so rare that we’ve never come across another. Recently listed, this 2001 CLK430 Cabriolet can be found here on Autotrader. The asking price is a reasonable $13,950 and we urge you to take a look.
Typically when we run across a fun color combination we get excited. It’s usually something like a Vario color or a specific paint only offered in limited run. Almost always, these cars are accompanied by the word “Designo.” In an odd turn of events, this car is not....Finished in Brilliant Silver (744) over Red and Charcoal leather (227), this CLK430 presents itself in typical Mercedes heritage colors (Much like the SLR Stirling Moss we found yesterday). Even the steering wheel is completely red...you have to love it.
The car is optioned nicely with the factory wind deflector, heated seats, COMMAND, and a Sport package. The odometer is showing only 25k miles and the car's history is reportedly clean and accident free per the seller. Included with the car are the original books, keys, and a clean inspection. This is one of those cars we’d love to stick in the garage for a few years only to pull it out for weekends or evening cruises. One things for certain, you’re very unlikely to see another.
