We've been watching this 1998 S600 on Bring A Trailer closely over the last couple of days and with 4 days left to go, we feel confident this is going set a new bar for the w140 market. The 600 is the top model offered from Mercedes aside from the few AMG specs roaming the world. With the m120 V12 engine, this car was unmatched at the time in terms of quality. Rated at 389hp, this 2.5 ton luxury yacht could sprint to 60mph in a mere 6 seconds. This particular example is Black 040 over exclusive black leather interior with gray inserts which we think is an ideal color combo from a collectibility standpoint.
This S600 is very well optioned with front and rear heated seats, rear sunshade, parking sensors, and xenon headlights. The paint appears to be in excellent condition all around with no visible blemishes. The leather throughout the cabin looks excellent including the driver seat which often shows the most wear. One of our favorite details of the 600's is the stitched leather interior trimmings. This is a theme you'll find throughout the cabin from the steering wheel to the dash, even the center console, seats, and doors are done. It makes for a very tasteful and classy look no matter what direction you're facing.
The 16" wheels appear to be in excellent condition as well and wear Michelin tires all around. New tires will be in the new owners near future as the date codes read 2008. In the process, we wouldn't be upset if some nice AMG monoblocks were sourced for it... just saying.
In July 2020, the car received the recommended "B Service" along with new spark plugs, brake fluid flush, and new battery at Mercedes-Benz of Plano, Texas. The car is accompanied by all factory literature, two keys plus a valet key, and a clean history report. We feel certain this will be sure to satisfy whoever ends up with this low mileage gem. Currently, the bidding is up to $30,000, however, we won't be surprised to see it double by auction end.
