Unicorn For Sale: 1992 E60 RENNtech

You might recognize this flared fender beast as one of the cars previously in Blakley Leonard's collection. This particular car began life as a 500E and was given a healthy amount of modifications by RENNTech in the early 90's under the car's original ownership. It was last sold on Bring a Trailer in June of 2019 by Blakley to it's current owner, who has now decided to sell it in order to free up some space in their current collection. So if you missed your chance last year to purchase this E60, it's your lucky day.

Finished in Black Pearl Metallic (199), the 500E came from the factory with unique flared fenders, bumpers, and lower cladding which created a very intimidating, yet equally understated look. This RENNtech E60 version has received a full facelift update giving it the appearance of a 94/95 model. At the same time, the lower cladding was also painted to match the body color completing the facelift update. In addition, the stiffened suspension lowers the car tastefully on the original Aero III wheels by OZ Racing. These multi-piece wheels measure 17x8.5 in the front and 17x10 in the rear wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires measuring 245/45 and 275/40 respectively. Since acquiring the car in June of 2019, the current seller has enjoyed the car sparingly and the car currently sits just below 121k-miles. The car is stored in a climate controlled garage with it's own designated battery tender.

The M119 5.0 engine that the 500E came equipped with has been modified by RENNtech, increasing displacement to 6.0 liters. Other mechanical modifications include an ASR defeat switch, a limited-slip differential, first gear start, and a RENNtech exhaust. A RENNtech carbon fiber airbox is also fitted to the engine to complete the look. RENNtech springs and sport dampers stiffen up the suspension while giving the car a proper ride height. The car is accompanied by a RENNtech catalog highlighting the modifications with prices for this build. Additional literature included are correspondence between the original owner and RENNtech during the build, RENNtech newsletters, an original copy of the September 1994 DuPont Registry issue featuring this car listed with Isringhausen, and a bill of sale from Isringhausen when the car was purchased for $87,539 in 1994 with 25,000 miles. The car comes with a clean CarFax showing no accidents and 3 owners.

Prior to it's sale in June of last year, the car had just received the following maintenance items in preparation for the sale:

- New battery

- New drive belts

- Rear ride-height sensor

- Rear suspension accumulators

- Transmission fluid flush

- Oil and filter change

- Refurbished audio head-unit by Becker Audio & Sound

The interior is finished in Anthracite black leather with burl wood accents along the dash and doors. The car has automatic climate control and heated seats. It's worth noting the 500E's came standard with upgraded Recaro seats including split rear seats. The leather is still in great condition with no tears. Our favorite interior feature of course is the period correct vintage car phone mounted to the dash for all of those important phone calls while on your drive to your other beach house.

The W124 doesn't get much more beautiful than this. As far as performance goes, this one is sure to keep your heart rate up no matter your destination. Current asking price is an extremely modest $64,000. We ask that only serious buyers reach out to us directly for inquiries to purchase this 1992 E60 RENNtech.
